I like the name tiny little stars. It kind of just popped in my head. The night sky has always fascinated me. Native Americans used the stars to tell stories. Sailors used stars to find their way. American slaves used the North Star to deliver them to freedom. The sky is so vast and makes me feel tiny. When a negative thought gets stuck in my head I like to go outside and stare at the stars. It’s mysterious and somehow healing. I’ve been known to wish upon a star or two.
The nighttime sky also reminds me that in the darkness, the smallest of light still shines through. The light is always there.
I’m a girl. I’m a mother. I’m a romantic. I read a lot. I’m writing more because it’s good to bleed out what’s inside my heart. I’m a teacher. I try not to let people down. I believe in love and beauty and music and words. I believe in miracles. I believe in kindness. I believe all those wishes and dreams that you hold dear and you work hard for will come true. I never give up.
If you do not breathe through writing, if you do not cry out in writing, or sing in writing, then don’t write, because our culture has no use for it.
